Helicopter Taxis to begin in kulu-Manali (India).

29 November 2008

The Himachal Pradesh is the state with so many tribal areas that are most favorable sites for adventure tourists. It attracts visitors from Germany, Britain, Israel and various other European countries. The hill stations are not only famous for natural wornders but also for discovering historic and ancient monasteries.

In 2007, more than 8.8 million tourists and adventurists, including 339,000 foreigners, came over the state. Kullu-Manali has emerged as a favourite tourist destination and considered the most visited hill station last year. But since the ranges are huge and takes a long time to cover the peek point, most of the visitors spend almost a day in travelling. Hence to facilitate the tourists, the government is introducing heli-taxi services in tribal areas of the state to tap high-spending adventure tourists. Travel agents are happy with the decision, saying poor air connectivity within the state is proving a deterrence to the tourism market.
