Sachin gets packed for Aussie Test Series.

Cricket's living prodigy Sachin was declared fit on Friday for the 4-test home series against Australia starting in Bangalore on Oct 9. He was pulled out of a domestic match this week to recover from an elbow injury sustained during the third test in Sri Lanka last month which forced him out of the subsequent one-day series.

A board statement said the physiotherapist who assessed Tendulkar's fitness at the National Cricket Academy had declared him fit. It said Tendulkar would join a training camp in Bangalore next week.

Tendulkar, who has become increasingly injury prone, is 76 runs short of retired West Indian Brian Lara's world record 11,953 test runs.

FORMULA 1 Gears Up at Singapore

Its hardly 10 days left for the live action of 2008 FORMULA 1 SingTel Singapore Grand Prix.

The inaugural will take place on 28 September on a street circuit of public roads around the Marina Bay area. This race is the first ever FORMULA 1 to be held at night, and is their first street race in Asia. Singapore GP Pte Ltd is the race promoter for the 2008 FORMULA 1™ SingTel Singapore Grand Prix. It holds five-year renewable rights to stage the Singapore Grand Prix, beginning with the 2008 Season. The company is a partnership between Komoco Motors Pte Ltd and regional events company Lushington Entertainments, via its parent company Reef Enterprises.

More than 95% of the tickets have already been sold, with 40,000 of the 100,000 tickets available per day, or 40%, sold to purchasers outside of Singapore. It is assured that, in the three-day event, over 300,000 spectators will get to enjoy this unique race. So, its gonna be F1 fever through out this September in the bay streets of Singapore.

Ranji Trophy getting bigger with Overseas Entry.

The Indian cricket board on Saturday decided to permit players from international board to participate in its first-class domestic championship starting this year.

Sunil Gavaskar, Chairman of The technical committee BCCI, said state sides were now free to include one foreigner in their ranks for the Ranji Trophy contest.

Since the world wide response rose to unexpected heights for the DLF Indian premier league, the board secretary Niranjan Shah said in a press release that, "Four guest players are allowed to play in Ranji Trophy similar to T20 IPL held recently". He also says, "One among them could be a cricketer from foreign state who has played at least ten Tests and/or twenty one-day internationals."

The Ranji Trophy is the country's premier inter-state competition and a good performance here often makes a case for selection to the national squad. Former England batsman Denis Compton and West Indian pacer Roy Gilchrist had played in the Ranji Trophy during India's pre-independence period but the trend was done away with later on.

The BCCI had been mulling such a move for the past two years in the wake of dwindling spectator interest and almost negligible TV viewership.
