Sea Wasp - Deadly Creature of the World

21 October 2008

We normally get rid of marine creatures when we talk about poisonous organisms in the world. It is because we often get to know about snakes that threaten us with slithering tongue and deadly venom. But snakes venom is certainly very weak when compared to few most deadly organisms that are tiny and common. On the whole, 'Sea Wasp' get the top rank in the researchers study. The name itself is deceptive since the creature isn't actually a wasp or insect at all. It is a box jellyfish (Chironex fleckeri) with its "bell" can be prolonged as big as a basketball with up to 60 tentacles hanging down upto 15 feet, which is pretty good sized jelly. It doesn't seems fearful on its appearance but its activities are worse and deadly to humans especially to the Aussies who were swimming in the surf along with the jellies and never even saw the tentacles.

The amazing fact here is how the stinging cells work. Each Tentacles bears tiny poison darts (like the sweat glands in our skin), along the entire length. The poison in tentacles is enough to kill its prey as close to "instant" with no strain and they can ingest them without any injury to themselves. This Clever attack of Box jellies are chemically generated, by just rubbing the surface of human skin or the scaly skin of a fish it can make them unconscious or even lead to death. Scientists proved that if the jelly's tentacles don't come in contact with the chemicals on human skin, the nematocysts won't respond and you won't get stung. Hence surfers and life guards wore a thin and flimsy as women's nylon pantyhose over their skin to prevent the jellies from stinging. It may look funny but it can save their life from the invisible deadly Stingers on Marine.

World's Most Expensive House - " The Beverly Compound "

07 October 2008

"The Beverly House Compound" is the most expensive home anywhere in the world with a whooping price of $165,000,000 ( i.e. approximately 95 million British Pounds ) in the market. This home was once owned by William Randolph Hearst where he lived with Hollywood legend Marion Davies. The compound is spread over 6+ acres and includes 6 different residences with a total of 75,000 sq. ft. of living space. The luxurious mansion encloses 29 bedrooms overall. The main building has nine of these bedrooms, as well as a two-story library with hand-carved paneling, eight fireplaces, two movie-projection rooms and a living room with 22-foot arched ceiling.

Also on the grounds are three other houses, an apartment, a cottage, two tennis courts, a tennis pavilion with bathrooms, three swimming pools, and a poolside cabana with two bedrooms and bathrooms. Getting dizzy yet? But wait, there are more selling points.

It is to be noted that Mr. John and Jacqueline Kennedy spent part of their honeymoon there, and it later served as the West Coast headquarters for Kennedy's Presidential campaign. Its interior elegance were still been hidden and unexposed to still cameras. However the house has been featured in many films, including The Jerk, The Bodyguard, Fletch and most famously The Godfather, where Jack Woltz, the producer resided there through out the shooting.

The Beverly Compound is not only considered as the most amazing residences in the world, but whoever buys it will also be owning a piece of California history.

And the price of all this history and luxury !
Well, enough to make it the most expensive home currently listed on the planet..!

Pleasant smell, sweetens Dream.

23 September 2008

Study shows that Pleasant Smells ensure Pleasant Dreams during sleep and similarly Bad Odors for Bad Dreams. Naturally, bedrooms that smells good will always be preferred to sleep but researchers examined and proved that it is also responsible for sweet dreams during that time of sleep. This may sound strange, but the news comes from a German study in which a positive smell (roses), a negative smell (rotten eggs), or a neutral smell wafted through a sleep lab while 15 healthy young women slept. The women described the dreams they'd been having and rated how positive or negative those dreams had been. The women reported more positive dreams when they had smelled the rose scent during sleep, and more negative dreams when they had smelled the scent of rotten eggs during sleep. The type of scent didn't affect how long the dreams lasted or how bizarre the dreams were.

Hence, you can avoid nightmares and other ghastly experiences with the aidscent of pleasant smelling room sprays and roses by the side..Hilarious..!

Hey Pals..Sleep on Time...!

09 September 2008

hi friends,
Sleeping problem is one of the major recurring issues particularly to our ages but its still been a question for a proper solution. Recently scientist have found that, Biological clocks of humans, animals and even plants are intricately linked with day and night. But when they fall out of sync, they have potentially damaging consequences.

Swinburne University of Technology researcher Greg Murray, who has keenly studied the body clock or the circadian system, found its rhythms can impact human mood.

His research has linked the body clock and certain psychological responses, including the capacity to trigger relapses in patients with bipolar disorder.

Mood disorders such as bipolar disorder have long been linked with sleep problems, suggesting that the circadian system plays a role in these conditions.

'If you take seriously this idea that the body clock is part of a causal pathway to mood disorders, then a natural deduction is that monitoring clock function might provide early warning of relapse in vulnerable people,' Murray said.

Murray and his PhD student Ben Bullock have just tested the theory in a project funded by the National Depression Initiative. Twelve volunteers with bipolar disorder were fitted with wrist-worn devices designed to monitor their circadian system by measuring their physical activity throughout the day and night.

According to Murray, these actigraphs give a usable measure of circadian output under natural conditions.

The subjects were tracked for up to 12 months. During the period, one participant experienced a serious relapse that landed him in hospital. 'For our purpose, it was very interesting that circadian activity data really did show a marked signal of deterioration in the days and even weeks before the relapse.'

Instead of his activity patterns operating on a 24-hour cycle, the participant shifted to a 48-hour cycle of wakefulness and broken, disturbed rest.

'With Indic Premananda, from the University of Massachusetts, we are analysing the actigraph data to find the time scale at which rhythm disruption is most apparent,' Murray said.

In the next stage of research, the team wants to see if signals of rhythm disruption in patients can be used as markers of vulnerability to bipolar disorder in the general population. Hence Trouble sleep scientifically gives us a solution stating that,"Your body clock is out of sync".

Cure Acne using CONDOMS

31 August 2008

Lubricant from Number one plus Condoms mostly used by sex workers and gay men can be well-thought out as the best way to dry and remove acne. This lubricant is produced by health organization certified under Population Services International (PSI) and found to be an excellent remedy for acne. Even toothpaste (without gel), visine eye drops can do the same but the reaction rate is drastically low when compared with the lubricant treatment. It can be used by women of all ages to get rid of spots.

Its hard to believe but very effective, try it and give me comments on your good results...!

"Life in Mars is Possible", Scientists Pronounced

12 August 2008

Scientists are confirming the fact that humans can survive on Mars and they also have clear proofs for the above statement in their successful research, that turned out in the Red planet.

Wickramasinghe, a globally-esteemed astrobiologist, briefed that like our planet Earth, Liquid Water combined with organic substances is found in enormous there and the meteorite that came from Mars are illustrating those facts, adding to it, the methane content in Martian atmosphere points out clearly that Contemporary Life is possible in mars since the corresponding research verifies them. He is also a leading advocate of a theory known as Panspermia, which suggests that all planets have been seeded for life by microbes from outer space and is thought to be a minority-view among scientists. Even in the media interview he said, that the discovery of subsurface water ice in the north polar regions of Mars - announced July 31 by US scientists - combined with earlier developments leads him to believe there is life on Mars.

But certainly this news was hidden to public which led to the confusion as many scientist conclude by saying that the American authorities are dithering from announcing it, mainly due to some political reasons.

Sarees obliquely pushes Women to jail in Nigeria Interesting..!!

11 August 2008

Saris are the most widely used traditional attires for women in India. But the Nigerian Government passed a bill elucidating that womens who are exposing their midriffs in their traditional saris will be found foul and offensive. Also the Tourists in towelling wraps and Nigerian women in traditional dress with their stomachs exposed could be pushed themselves behind bars for three months or subjected to fines of $100.

This Order was passed by the senator, Eme Ufot Ekaette, who felt that nudity was driving men to engage in corruption and steal from the state in Nigeria. According to them, scantily dressed women were luring men. In turn they increase corruption and steal precious fortunes to spend for those woman by building colossal home for them in London, Rome and New York. They are being misled every time by a naked woman. Ishaq Akintola, a strong supporter of Akaette's from the Muslim Rights watch, strongly says "Nudity leads to corruption". Even the Police were supporting the law by maltreating women regularly by testing whether their body was exposed lower than two inches above the neck or more than two inches above the knee.

The Woman's Rights Groups strongly opposed the proposed law by calling it as "laughable". But they are very much worried with the Nigerian Government on their creepy thoughts. They also added by saying, Due to some seductive women's illegal activity the government must not rely pressure on the whole female community which may certainly stimulate a turn-on some women resulting in more pressing issues in the country, such as female circumcision, the high infant mortality rate and rape of babies etc.

This May be quite Funny to read but actually a serious issue in the state of Nigeria, and i also suggest this to our government..
Hilarious...!!

Marine Bacteria Inhibits Cancer...!

10 August 2008

Largazole, a marine compound derived from cyanobacteria, commonly grow on coral reefs which has been recently discovered off the coast of Key Largo in Florida slows down cancer cell growth. Its been significantly proved in the laboratory test and is likely to prompt the development of effective new drugs. Researchers are proud as this has been one of the most promising finds since the college's marine lab was established three years ago. "Largazole" was discovered by Luesch and gets its name because of its location (Florida).

Its structural features seeks out an enzyme called HDAC (Histone Deacetylase), which has been associated with several cancers such as prostate and colon tumours, and inhibiting HDACs can enable tumor-suppressor genes that have been completely hidden in these cases.

Although scientists have been showing their interest in mining depths of the ocean for marine products since the early 1960s, the support from many pharmaceutical companies were very lost as natural products were considered too costly and time-consuming to research and develop. But the fact is, there are still an ocean of natural compounds yet to be revealed in our seas for our common medication.

counter420 opens T20 Cricket in Newyork

07 August 2008

hi Friends,

Its been a new spread recently, that the New York police (NYPD) are off from their work in turn organizing a twenty20 cricket league, in order to build good relationship among the people from various disciplines and from different ethnic groups.

Players from Guyanese Indian origin, Muslim descendant of Pakistani and Bangladeshi, will play twice weekly till August end in the Twenty20 Cricket Cup held at Brooklyn's Gateway Cricket Ground. The entire league was planned well and successfully launched by the cops.

Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly during his coin toss session says, that the New York today is turning to be the home field for new immigrant and American-born players alike, many of whom excel at sports that local leagues don't traditionally offer. and with the support of them, young enthusiasts from Bangladesh to Brooklyn now can be expected to play there. The NYPD has long provided programmes for youth while promoting positive police-community relations. And certainly the Twenty20 Cricket Cup has proved to be the same. An earlier attempt was already made with a soccer league held on may which came out with a huge delightful response among the crowd and this was the second.

And they expect that this social pro gramme of T20 cricket will record a good response and reach the target audience more than that of the former.

LEGO celebrating its 50

28 July 2008

LEGO is an International toy manufacturing company and it is now celebrating its 50th year of building frenzy by happy kids and kids-at-heart, basically "LEGO" Blocks are the tiny plastics building toys that apparently reminds my childhood days where i spent most of the time with that in building innovations. It not only improves our creativity but also exposes weird curiosities in every kids mind with ensured standards.

On the note of its Golden jubilee Celebration, Legoland Windsor was all set to a new world record for the tallest tower made of Lego bricks. Thousands of children and their families helped put the final bricks in place to complete the monster structure, which stands nearly 100ft tall. The tower was positioned at the main entrance of the park with the shape resembling a Viking longboat mast. It is also marked as the opening at the Berkshire theme park as "new land of the Viking". Almost half a million (500,000) bricks were used by thousands of people especially children to get this massive work done.

"We are thrilled to bring the World Record to Legoland Windsor after four days of hard work, not to mention nearly 500,000 bricks, and it now stands at nearly 100ft. It has been a great way to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Lego bricks.", says Mr. Penny Jenkins, the Park's special events manager.

This massive Lego Tower of 29.26m (100 feet) tall was awaited for its official verification by Guinness World Records to redeem its previous one at Toronto in August 2007.

A Super-Strong Paper as tough as Steel

17 July 2008

Lars Berglund, leading scientist of the Swedish Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm has developed a super-strong paper with his research team which is nearly as tough as steel- and is feasible for use in the construction industry. He also unveiled that this nano-paper is made from gently processed natural cellulose nano-fibres.

He endorsed the fabrication of the super-strong material to a new process that helps pulp wood without damaging the properties of the natural fibres, something that prevents them from weakening. The researcher hence conveys the secret to the nanopaper's performance is not only the strength of the undamaged cellulose fibres, but also the way they are arranged into networks. Though strongly bound together, he says, the cellulose fibres are still able to slip and slide over each other to dissipate strains and stresses. Berglund also says that the individual cellulose fibres are also much smaller than in conventional paper. "A regular paper network has fibres 30 micrometres in diameter, here we are at a scale three orders of magnitude smaller. The material (has) very small defects compared with a conventional paper network," Live Science quoted him as saying.

Researchers found upon mechanical testing that their new material had a tensile strength of 214 megapascals, which made it stronger than cast iron (130 MPa), and nearly as strong as structural steel used in buildings and bridges (250 MPa).

Google Introduces "LIVELY"

10 July 2008

Google, Known for its plain-Jane approach to Web design, has come up with something much wackier.

On Tuesday the company introduced Lively, an online tool that allows people to embody a cartoonish online avatar and have text-based conversations with friends and other Internet users in virtual chat rooms. The rooms can be added to any blog or Web site.

Google unveiled the new product in a post on its official blog — its characteristically understated way of introducing new features to the world. It can be reached (downloaded) at www.lively.com

but is officially part of Google Labs, an area of the company’s site where it showcases projects that remain in the beta, or experimental, phase.

Lively and similar products from other companies have the potential to change the way people interact over the Web. Online chat rooms are two-dimensional — they include text, and sometimes voice and video.

Lively tries to make that conversation three-dimensional, more interactive and more fun. As if they were playing a game, users choose from a selection of unrealistically handsome or Disneyesque avatars. They can also create their own rooms, which can be posted to a blog or social network profile as easily as a Youtube video.

Up to 20 people can occupy a room and chat with one another. (Text appears as cartoon-style bubbles atop the avatars.) Users can design their own virtual environments, hanging on the walls videos from YouTube and photos from Picasa, Google’s photo service, as if they were pieces of art.

So a new evolution of chat is going to begin with GOOGLE "LIVELY"...
